Why I Started The Peak Edit

Clutter isn’t just about “too much stuff.”
It’s the stress when you can’t find what you need.
The guilt of half-finished projects.
The overwhelm of a room you can’t even bear to look at.

I know that feeling – because I’ve lived it. And I’ve learned how to transform it.
That’s exactly why I started The Peak Edit.

From Organised Friend to Professional Declutterer

I’ve always been that person in the friendship group – the one who organises the holidays, does the research, remembers the dates, and makes sure the details are covered. The things that drain most people? I genuinely enjoy them.

And yes, I’ve always had too much stuff. But it’s always been organised – because that’s how my brain works. (Until it didn’t… hello Project Downsize!)

When I moved to the Peak District, I’ll never forget the look the removals guy gave me – as if to say, “There’s no way you’ll get this packed in time.” He couldn’t have been more wrong. Every room was mapped out, every box packed and labelled by room and contents, meaning unpacking would be a doddle.

It wasn’t until I moved in with my partner and met a new circle of friends, that something clicked. Suddenly, I realised not everyone’s brain works like mine. What I do on autopilot – creating order, building systems – other people find stressful, overwhelming, even impossible.

Living with someone at the opposite end of the spectrum forced me to get creative. I had to design systems that worked for both of us. That’s when it hit me: the clarity I find in organising isn’t just a quirk. It’s a skill that can genuinely change people’s lives.

Why The Peak Edit Exists Today

I started The Peak Edit because I knew there were other people who felt stuck, overwhelmed, and the clutter in their homes stopped them from living how they wanted. People who tried the quick fixes and storage hacks, but nothing lasted.

The truth is, clutter isn’t just clutter. It’s:

  • Overwhelm – not knowing where to start.
  • Emotional weight – guilt, memories, “one day” items.
  • Stress – a home that feels more draining than calming.

Through my signature PEAK Method, I guide people step by step:

  • Prepare – get everything out so you can see what you have.
  • Edit – keep what serves you, let go of what doesn’t.
  • Arrange – create simple systems that last.
  • Kudos – celebrate the relief when your home finally feels like yours again.

It’s Never Just About the Stuff

The Peak Edit isn’t about Pinterest-perfect cupboards or forcing you to throw everything away. It’s about creating calm, sustainable systems – with no guilt, no pressure, and no judgement.

One client summed it up perfectly:

“Rebecca hasn’t only helped me declutter my home, she has decluttered my mind and freed me from overwhelm.”

That’s why I do what I do. Because clutter isn’t just clutter — and everyone deserves to feel at home in their own space.

Final Thoughts

So, why did I start The Peak Edit?
Because I believe life’s too short to feel ruled by the things you own.
When your home is calm, you are too.

If your life feels too full — and your home does too — maybe it’s time we tackled it together.
